Text in image reads: It was under these conditions that we met again. The encounter was not a very eventful one. We were both in a hurry and walking in opposite directions. A heavy snowfall had just begun, his steps were large, and from across the street I noticed that his head was tilted slightly downward as if to protect his eyes. After we passed each other, I waited a few seconds before turning to watch him. As he walked he turned, saw me, waved his arm, continued, hesitated a moment, and then continued on until he rounded the corner. I thought of the moisture blurring his glasses despite his evasive effort, and wondered what impression I had left with him.
